Stirring Effect in the Belousov Zhabotinsky Reaktion

Recently we found a new not yet investigated "effect" in the BZ reaction. It seems that a limited stirring phase can change the dynamical behaviour of the BZ reaction. The quantification and the mathematical modeling of of this effect is the topic of this ongoing investigation.

A: Stirring for 60 min (all measurements were performed at constant temperature of 30°C)
Our preliminary research results were presented at the European Conference on Complex Systems (ECCS'12) in Brussels and are published in the Proceedings of the European Conference on Complex Systems 2012.
More recently we discovered that also the temperature has an effect on this behaviour other then the well-known increase in oscillation frequency. This results were presented at the Workshop on Patterns and Hydrodynamic Instabilities in Reactive Systems and in more detail at the European Conference on Complex Systems (ECCS'13)

Oscillating Liposomes encapsulating the Belousov Zhabotinsky Reaktion

Similarly to previous works investigating dispersion of a BZ water solution in an oil, we are here exploring the possibilies of "chemical communication" between liposomes containing the BZ reaction. This work is a first step of an ongoing investigation on the encapsulation of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky oscillating reaction inside phospholipid vesicles (liposomes). Due to preperation methods we are also investigating the effect of sugars on the qualitative behaviour of the BZ reaction.
